Divorce – facing the facts…

There are a lot of reasons that people find themselves in the process of separation and divorce. Common factors are often infidelity, lost love, differences with the partner’s family and of course the big one financial stress! Age is no factor when it comes to SEPARATION and we see all generations of clients in our offices.
So you have taken the first steps of separation the next points to look at are:

• Arrangements For Children
• Divorce (If Married)
How do you get a divorce?
First you must be separated for at least 12 months before you can apply for a divorce. You start by making an application to the court. You can make the divorce application by yourself or jointly with your spouse. if your spouse is refusing to sign the application for divorce you can make a sole application for divorce to the court. this can be a more difficult process. We can also take care of all the necessary paperwork for you to make the process smoother.
How long does it take?
From the date you lodge the divorce application with the court it takes on average 3 months for the divorce to become final provided all criteria is met and your spouse does not disagree with the facts stated by you in the divorce application. You cannot remarry until your divorce is final.
